Cleaning up the apartment and then working on some music…This amp is the reason for my lack of hanging out.

Who needs to hang out when you have an AC30 to keep you company?

"i'm looking for a good tube combo amp that won't break my wallet. Also, something that is portable. any suggestions?"

Asked by jamesdeanmcqueen

Vintage Fender Twins, Deluxes and Bassman combos are cool. The newer Fender tube combos (Hot Rod DeVille/Deluxe) are pretty nice too. Marshall JCM 800s come in combo form. Music Man HD130 is cool, sorta Fendery but its own thing. Vox AC30 and AC15 are always awesome. You can usually score Ampeg Gemini combos on the cheap; they’re fairly low-power and often fragile but they sound beautiful. Then, at the upper limits of portability, there’s the Ampeg VT-22 or VT-40.

I have a strong love for the Vox clean channel. The AC30 which is pictured above is an amp Brian May used on the Queen records and still to this day has one of the best responses. At least in my opinion.
