Fuck Yeah Amp Worship!

Mmm...tone.

I have a strong love for the Vox clean channel. The AC30 which is pictured above is an amp Brian May used on the Queen records and still to this day has one of the best responses. At least in my opinion.

Lead guitar’s going through this Two-Rock head. Apparently this is what John Mayer (king douche) uses?

Selmer and Vox Amps mic’ed up in Toerag Studios.
These are two beautiful amps but the location is even more exciting. Toerag is a small, mainly analogue studio in London, and is a Mecca for old-school recording geeks like GP.
The client list includes bands such as Supergrass, The Zutons, The Kills and many, many more. The White Stripes recorded ‘Elephant’ there and Tame Impala perfected their 60’s time machine sound recording ‘Sundown Syndrome’ there. Basically, Toerag is the first port-of-call for bands who wish they were born in a different time, and everything recorded there sounds majestic.
You can visit the website at Toerag Studios.com and you can read a more in-depth recording interview at Sound on Sound Magazine.

Drooling over that Selmer.

1961 Vox AC30 - If it was good enough for The Beatles and Queen, it should be good enough for you. Arguably Vox’s most famous contribution to the rock and/or roll world, these amps have been in regular use since the late 1950s, but really blew up in 1961-62 with the addition of “Top Boost,” an extra gain stage that provided the AC30 with its trademark brilliance, thereby defining “jangle” for decades to come. Add to that the distinctive Vox look, and you’ve got a legend.
Like all the successful amps of the ’60s, there are many incarnations of the AC30 ranging from slight modifications to “solid-state waste of space.” As such, authentic vintage AC30s go for big bucks on eBay these days, but if they’re in good condition…totally worth it.
