"To the anon who's having a hard time with the dual rec. Try a maxon od808 or ibanez ts9 as a boost. (Overdrive knob - 7:30, Balance/Level - around 12:30) The rectifier series has a very "loose" gain. I know countless touring bands trying to get high gain tone that use these pedals and it makes a big difference. It will tighten up the gain and really bring out overtones and harmonics. A noise suppressor in front of the amp is also a good idea if your using this concept, things can get noisy."

Dual Recs CAN have very loose gain - unless you change the power settings on the back of the head (“bold” vs. “spongy”) or which rectifier (tube vs. diode). I didn’t even think of that when homie originally asked.
