"I have a 50 watt JCM 800 using the high input and I love it, but Iv'e been thinking about getting an HM-2 and running that through the low input. Any thoughts? Also, any suggestions on what heads take the HM-2 well?"

I would think to run it through the low gain channel myself, good on you.
HM-2 + V4 is a pretty well-reputed combination. Mig 100, some older Peavey models…I’ve even heard an HM-2 running into a Mesa Dual Rec sound pretty good.
