"I mostly play bass in Sludge, Crust, and Power Violence types of bands historically, but now I'm also doing a post-punk/darkwave band. I played a tube amp for a while but the upkeep plus the extreme weight on my bad back was too much. I'm looking for "cheaper" Solid State heads that might sound nice clean for the latter stuff, but would also be receptive to fuzzes and other pedals. I've been checking out Sunns and Acoustic 320s, do you have any other suggestions? I use an Ampeg 1540HE cab mostly"

You’re definitely barking up the right tree; Sunn and Acoustic solid state gear is among the best. If you’re having trouble finding those, I recorded a really great band whose guitarist used a metric fuck-ton of pedals through a Fender FM100 head, so there’s that.
